Mrs Worthington

Sophie is a former Shrewsbury International School Year 6 teacher who is currently working as an assistant headteacher in the UK. She believes in fostering a love of learning with the firm belief that all children can achieve academic excellence. Sophie's lessons are personalised to meet the needs of the individual, challenging to ensure that children develop the skills of resilience and engaging so that the students can have fun whilst they learn! This in turn will support retention and academic success.

Y6 Teacher. Whilst at SHB, Sophie set up the Primary Teaching and Learning party to continue to refine and develop pedagogy through the sharing of best practice, delivering regular CPD and was invited to speak and share practice at the Secondary Teaching and Learning party.

Sophie was invited to work alongside the local authority in Nottinghamshire where she was able to introduce, share and support with the implementation of effective strategies to improve teaching and learning in schools across Nottinghamshire. As part of this role, she was regularly observed by other professionals from within the local authority to share outstanding practice and support their development as teachers

As an SLE, Sophie  delivered further training across Nottinghamshire, supporting schools in English, Feedback & Marking, differentiation and personalised learning . This included visiting schools and delivering whole school support , small group training and 1:1 support.

Sophie was asked to speak at one of Nottinghamshire’s largest teach meets – where over 30 primary schools attended- to share expertise on Assessment for learning (AFL) and questioning, feedback and marking and leaders of learning.
